Terms and Conditions
1) The Gym
a) All references to the “Gym” relate to the Camross Community Gym, Camross, Co Laois. The Gym is an unsupervised community Gym and Camross Community Association has oversight of the Gym operations. The Gym is located in Camross village on the top floor of the Camross Hub. The Hub is situated behind the Poets Cottage. Facilities refer to the Gymnasium including Cardio equipment and weights equipment. Members of the Gym are bound by the rules set out below. This is to ensure that the facilities are properly and safely used and that all members take full advantage of them without interfering with the enjoyment of others.
2) Memberships
a) All memberships are Non-Transferable & Non-Refundable.
b) All members must be over 16 to avail themselves of facilities and services provided
at Camross Community Gym.
c) Camross Gym is a community Gym, and the Camross Community Association reserves the right to refuse membership to any individual without cause. References may be required on a case-by-case basis and Garda checks will also be run on a case-by-case basis. Failure to pass a Garda check will result in membership termination and the refusal of entry again.
d) Membership may be renewed on payment of the prevailing fee and in accordance with the terms and conditions then in force.
e) By joining the Gym, members automatically accept and agree to be bound by these conditions of membership.
f) All members must scan their phone for access to the building on each visit to the Gym.
g) Entry will only be permitted to those with a valid membership, in date and in credit. If you have an amount due to be paid on your account, you won’t be able to enter the building.
h) As a member you agree to comply with the rules of the Gym with regards to use of the facilities, opening hours and your conduct. The Gym may make reasonable
changes to these rules, from time to time, provided the Gym gives advance notice of these changes.
i) You may, at your own discretion and expense, obtain personal insurance for loss, injury, or damage that you might sustain arising from use of the Gym. You exercise at your own discretion and accept any injury or illness brought on by exercise is your own responsibility.
j) Members wishing to report on accidents, incidents, or problems with services at the Gym should contact camrossgym@gmail.com
k) In the event of a breach of membership rules and regulations the Gym reserves the right of admission and may reserve the right to require any member or guest to leave the premises. Any member found in breach of rules or committing an illegal act, including theft, will be asked to permanently leave the Gym, and be barred from ever
entering the Gym again.
l) The Gym will be initially be opened with no limit on numbers using the gym at any one time. If we find over time that there are too many persons using the gym on given peak hours we may need to limit numbers for these times and members will be asked to book their slot on the booking app which can be found on https://www.camrosscommunity.ie/Gym.
3) Payments
a) Memberships will be paid by accessing the Gym section of the Camross Community website. https://www.camrosscommunity.ie/Gym.
b) Memberships are for a 12-month period and are charged at €250 per annum (2024 rates)
c) Members are required to agree to the normal terms and conditions of payment.
e) Instructions to END or CANCEL memberships must be sent by email to camrossGym@gmail.com. Instructions to cancel or freeze WILL NOT be taken in person or over the phone.
f) We currently do not facilitate a monthly instalment payment process.
4) Opening Hours
a) The Gym will operate unsupervised from 6:00am to 9:30pm, 7 days a week.
b) The Gym reserves the right to vary the opening hours as considered necessary for the proper operation of the centre.
c) The Gym may withdraw use of all or part of the Gym for the purpose of undertaking maintenance work or any other work considered necessary for a maximum period of seven working days.
d) One hour per week (Day and time to be confirmed) will be reserved for an Active Retirement Gym session.
5) Safety & Hygiene
a) It is mandatory that before using the fitness facilities, you must view the Induction video that will be provided as part of your welcome pack. The Induction video will provide information on the safe use of Gym equipment and details regarding safe access and egress from the building.
b) It is necessary that all members and of the Gym wear appropriate, clean attire and footwear when using the studio and Gym.
c) If you feel dizzy, faint, unwell or feel any unusual pain then you must stop exercising immediately. Contact numbers will be provided in the Gym if you need assistance.
d) Members cannot train in the Gym without a hand towel. In the interest of hygiene, members must wipe down each piece of equipment after use.
e) We operate a “No Trace” policy in the Gym. Please bring your personal rubbish home with you.
6) Disclaimer
a) By booking a membership for the Gym you are confirming that you;
i) Have read the protocols for using the facility and watched the induction videos.
ii) Understand and acknowledge the risks involved and your role in minimising that
risk.
b) You also accept that all forms of physical activity and exercise present an element of
risk. Camross Community Association recommends that all clients/participants seek
medical advice prior to using the facility or services. You hereby fully understand and
accept that Camross Community Association will not be held liable for any injuries,
medical conditions, loss or damage to property or loss of income sustained as a
result of using the service or facilities. You hereby state that you know of no reason,
medical or otherwise why you should not participate in any of the activities and you
accept the full responsibility for any consequences of your participation.
c) Entry to the gym is strictly over 16’s.
d) Please ensure you notify when booking a membership of any medical conditions you
may have.
7) The Camross Community Gym House Rules
a) CCTV is in operation for your personal safety and security.
b) Members use the facilities and equipment at their own risk.
c) Please ensure you have viewed the induction video before using the equipment.
d) Please be considerate to others.
e) Please keep your music to yourself.
f) Please ensure that doors and windows are closed properly when exiting the gym and
building.
g) The Gym and lobby lights are on a sensor that will turn off automatically.
h) Members are to ensure that the gym is always kept clean and tidy.
i) Members are asked to take their personal rubbish home. There is a “No Trace” policy
in operation in the Gym.
j) Please sanitize Gym equipment after use.
k) Please return equipment to its proper place after use
l) Please don't drop weights onto the floor and only use weights on the protective floor
coverings.
m) Please do not move the gym equipment out of position.
n) Please ensure there are no trip hazards when you leave the Gym.
o) No food or drink besides bottled water is allowed in the Gym.
p) Proper and appropriate gym attire must be worn (No dress shoes, boots, or sandals)
q) No horse play is allowed.
s) Please inform the Gym committee should any non-members be using the Gym
facilities.
t) Members are solely responsible for their own valuables.
u) Under 16s are NOT allowed to use the gym facilities.

8) Other
a) Camross Community Association reserve the right to amend these Terms &
Conditions at any time and members will be informed in a timely manner of any
subsequent changes.
